Story

Thanks for visiting the 5 CAPITALS fundraising page for the British Heart Foundation.

The North Wilts Branch of the Morris Minor Owners' Club is organising a tour of plucky Morris Minors aiming to visit all the five capitals: Cardiff, Dublin, Belfast, Edinburgh and London.  We are setting off from Malmesbury, Wiltshire at 10:30 on Saturday 24 July 2010 and returning there on Sunday 1 August.  It is an ambitious expedition for us, driving our Morris Minors, all over 40 years old.  Please come and meet us if you can.

We have selected the British Heart Foundation (BHF) as our chosen charity for our capital adventure as a number of us, or our families, have been personally affected by heart disease.  We very much appreciate the work that the BHF is doing to prevent and cure heart disease in this country.  You can read more at

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure.  It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: British Heart Foundation gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.  Dont worry about giving your details as they are needed to claim the Gift Aid and I have personally never received any unwanted spam from my Justgiving account.

If you would like to guess the total mileage that Alastair will travel in his 1970 220k MorrisTraveller please add it to your comment and the closest will win a prize from Ireland.

So please sponsor us now!

Stop press -Sunday night 1st August.  We have all arrived home safely in Malmesbury after a few adventures.

Alastair's mileage was exactly 1200 miles, so congratulations to Mike & Helen for guessing correctly.  He used 36 gallons of fuel at 33.7 mpg and £188.

The 5 Capitals cake was won with a correct guess of Juliet's mileage at 1194 miles.

We have raised quite a bit more in cash, which we will now be collecting.

Thank you to everybody who supported us whether it was sponsorship or beer, sandwiches, tea and cake on the way around the 5 CAPITALS.
