Story

We’re walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in July for The Sequal Trust – Three mountains, 24 miles, in one day...

A few months ago, a group of speech and language therapists went on a walk and got lost. One of them said “Why don’t we do the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge”...four of them said yes... one of them didn’t know where the three peaks were. The others politely declined, but are supporting us in other ways.

Many training walks later we have learnt a lot, including that maps are useful, always to take waterproofs and that it can snow in April!

We’ve chosen to do all this for The Sequal Trust who raise money to provide communication equipment to people with severe communication needs. Many people across the country face challenges more difficult than climbing three peaks every day – this could be from asking for a drink to telling someone about their day and may cause a great deal of frustration. Often it can be overcome with a communication device that gives them a voice. The Sequal Trust raises money to provide different devices and equipment to meet the different needs of people with severe communication needs.
