Acorns supports more than 800 children and over 1,100 families every year. The charity needs to raise £14 million each year to provide its care services across hospices and community settings. Your support means Acorns can continue to be there for local families facing the unimaginable.

Story

Dear Sir/ Madam,

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Acorns Children's Hospice Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Acorns Children’s Hospice currently provides support to 500 life-limited children and their families across the West Midlands and surrounding counties through our network of care through three hospices in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester , and our community team.

Sadly, the children that we care for are expected to die before they reach adulthood since a cure for their illness is not possible.  Therefore, Acorns is dedicated to making the most of a life that is limited, not just for the child, but for the whole family.

Every day, it costs £450 per bed to provide the specialist care and support that every Acorns child requires as well as £225 a day to provide a community team member to visit and give practical and emotional support to Acorns children and families.

To help us raise vital funds Acorns relies heavily on community support to fund most of our work as we receive little government funding.

Andrew Pickering along with Brian Johnson and Brian Murphy will be undertaking a walk of Hadrian’s Wall in 5 days in April 2007. As I am sure you can imagine this will be a tremendous challenge of stamina pursued with the aim of raising funds for Acorns to help to continue our vital work with the children and families that Acorns’ supports.

I would be really grateful if you or your organisation could help Andrew and Acorns in what ever way you can to raise either sponsorship or to assist Andrew in the purchase of needed equipment.

A plain rucksack rain cover is to be made for Andrew, Brian and Brian displaying the Acorns logo and all sponsoring companies.

If you would like further information about the care and services that Acorns provides, please don’t hesitate to contact me on the number below.

Thank you for your time and I hope that you are able to help Andrew and his friends to raise vital funds.

Yours sincerely

Jane Hartnell
