Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

On Sunday 8th October the Claire, Liz, Rachel and Jacquie all took part in a 10km run through Woburn Safari Park. The run started inside the Safari Park, through Woburn Deer Park before returning to the Safari Park, passing Lions and Bison before finishing back at the Lemurs.

All four of us run every step of the way, and we didn't finish last! As shown on this website, Liz and Jacquie managed a time of 1.08:51, while Rachel and Claire clockd 1.06:52.

All proceeds from this run will go towards CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) in memory of our friend Jane Starr (pictured), who died suddenly in May 2006, aged just 33, of a still undiagnosed heart condition.

It is not too late to donate generously!! Every week in the UK eight apparently fit and healthy young people die from undiagnosed heart conditions, so if a similar tragedy can be prevented, Jane will not have died in vain.

Many thanks for your support,

Liz, Jacquie, Claire and Rachel
