Five friends decided that the best way to look middle age in the eye and laugh out loud was a life changing adventure in aid of a great cause - so Daphne Lucas-Lee (celebrating her 50th birthday), Kay and Ted Steadman-Trenear, Joanne Walsh and Norma Wallace are going to climb Africa's highest mountain in seven days on 7th September this year. Altitude training has been on the mean streets of Chalfont St Peter and we have trekked across the rolling savannahs of the Chilterns with Olympic style preparation (!)

Our charity is Penn School, a local secondary for children with communication difficulties associated with speech and language, Autistic Spectrum disorders and hearing impairment. It is a small school catering for up to 100 children in a caring but challenging environment. Pupils are encouraged to establish themselves as individuals, develop self esteem and experience real independence. One of our team has a son there and Jamie has really thrived during his time at the school.
