My story

No-one was more surprised than us at our finishing time of 23hrs 30 minutes and 52 seconds. 3 peaks well and truly conquered!

Well it all started on a cold winters day in Birmingham ...

A throw away comment is made that the Three Peaks should be done as a challenge before the age of 30. Bez openly laughs at the prospect. A lunchtime passes, Bez has changed his mind and has become the world's leading expert on all things Three Peaks. A team is born, there are detailed (and not so detailed) agendas. Some clear misconceptions are uncovered in regard to survival techniques. We have an application to join the team. It is accepted on the premise that a Mr Motivator outfit is worn. Suddenly, we are actually going to trot up three mountains in 24 hours.

So ... this is where you come in. In order that the trip isn't just a series of Shetland pony tantrums, Matt's leg falling off, us getting hideously lost on the side of a mountain etc, we thought we'd better also raise some cash for a good cause at the same time. We've decided on Wooden Spoon (Matt and TB play rugby, Harper and Jones enjoy looking at rugby players). They do a load of good work for disadvantaged children, improving their lives mainly through sports related projects.

You might think, what are you going to get out of this. Apart from a lovely glow of do-gooderness at giving money to kids, you will have also contributed to what is bound to be an increasingly ridiculous affair, documented both in photographic and video form - yours to snigger at for all eternity.

The team therefore request that you - our family, friends, colleagues, neighbours and people we have met on the street - dig deep for a very good cause.

Many thanks,

Andy Berry, Matt Long, Amy Harper, Tom Burn, Hannah Jones and our generous driver Philip Reynolds.
