BUPA Great South Run (5k and 10 mile) · 25 October 2014

The RAF Benevolent Fund is the RAF's leading welfare charity. We have been there for all members of the RAF Family for over 100 years. Last year we assisted more than 70,000 members of the RAF Family. Support us in 2024 and help us reach even more members of the RAF Family.

Story

600 (City of London) Squadron of the Royal Air Force Reserves (600SQN) return to the BUPA Great South Run 2014 for the third time (2011, 2012 and now 2014) and are raising money exclusively for the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund (RAFBF).

"The Royal Air Force has a proud tradition of looking after its own. The RAF Benevolent Fund is the RAF's leading welfare charity and is an extension of that tradition"

The Team entered the 5km on Saturday 25th October as a warm-up for the main event, the10 mile run on Sunday 26th October. Just to make it 'interesting', for the 5k we ran in combat trousers, and combat helmets. 600SQN were joined by Roy Roberts, a retired RAF officer, who is a little crazy and therefore will be running in boots and a suitably heavy weight on his back.

Besides doing both runs for charity, which is important in itself, the team members had their personal reasons for taking on this challenge.
