UPDATE – Challenge completed!! In 12 hours. Map and photos: www.tallhat.com/dunster-bristol

Many thanks for your generosity! Please do keep track of the backpedalcancer lads who are going the whole hog - Land's End to John O'Groats “off-road” – it really is an incredible challenge. Keep track of them and support them if you use facebook here.

On September 11th we'll be undertaking an all-day 65 mile OFF-ROAD mountain bike challenge in aid of The Prostate Cancer Charity. This is just one day of a 20-day Land's End to John O'Groats challenge that's being organised by www.backpedalcancer.com for the same charity.

We will be joining the backpedalcancer team for the 4th day of their ride, going from Dunster near Minehead to Bristol. There are 4 tough 'climbs' en route; the Quantocks, Cheddar, Cadbury Hill and Long Ashton. We expect the ride to take 8-10 hours. Google map of route here

Prostate Cancer affects a significant number of men over 50. One statistic we have heard is that 50% of men die with prostate cancer (although most wouldn't have known they had it as in many cases it's slow growing). The more aggressive cases can be devastating as we experienced with Claire's father John who died in 2004 at the age of 61. Our challenge event is in his memory and also for Matt at backpedalcancer.com who is going through the same sad journey with his father as we write.

Dave is supporting this cause as his Dad died in 2008 of Multiple Myeloma, another form of cancer.

Please donate whatever you can. Thank you!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
