We are running the London Marathon on 13th April, on behalf of an old work colleague’s son.

His name is Daniel Fagan and this is his story:

CLIC Sargent have been a fantastic help to Daniel  (aged 2) and his family, since he was diagnosed with leukemia in August 2012. 

Daniel was first diagnosed with low risk leukemia, but in December 2012 he relapsed and was put onto a high risk protocol which required long stays in Oxford John Radcliffe hospital while receiving high dose chemotherapy. He then had to have a bone marrow transplant in Bristol Children's hospital, where he spent 4 months. Both Oxford and Bristol are an hour away from Daniels home in Swindon.

CLIC have luxurious, home from home houses in both of these locations which have significantly helped Daniels family. Only 1 parent can stay with Daniel in the hospital, so having accommodation close by meant that both parents could remain close to Daniel at times when he was really poorly. It also removed a huge financial and emotional strain of traveling 100 miles a day to the hospital.  For some families it becomes their new home for months at a time. The houses are kept immaculately clean and have fantastic facilities to keep the kids occupied and happy while away from home. 

This is just one example of the fantastic work CLIC do. Please help Daniels family ensure that these facilities remain available for future families suffering a childhood cancer.

Daniel is almost 6 month post transplant and is doing really well. He really is a little trooper!
