We are running for a special fund set up within Barts & The London Charity. Leona's husband Tom was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in late 2007 and underwent chemotherapy in 2008. Having recovered, Tom established a fund to raise money for specific cancer research at St Barts hospital. The research is focused on the use of immunotherapy as a treatment for cancer - a potentially groundbreaking method of cancer treatment that employs the body's own immune system to fight the cancer, instead of using the traditional route of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The fund is already being used to pay for a specialist 3 year research post.
Donating through Justgiving is totally secure and also the most efficient way to sponsor us: if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. The money goes to the Barts and The London Charity but will be specifically set aside for the immunotherapy research project.
