My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. It will take literally 1 minute more of your time to read the bits below...

Ever felt just a tiny bit shattered, achy and footsore after playing18 holes of golf? Ever tried playing 6 different courses in under 40 hours over 2 days....?

Well, that's the challenge we've set ourselves on 12/13 July at 6 courses across sunny North Wales. Among these, Pennant Park, Holywell, Mountain Park, Mold, Old Padeswood and Padeswood & Buckley Golf Clubs have all generously offered to show their support for Claire House by allowing us to play free of charge.

Playing from dawn til dusk each day, we'll be taking on over 32,000 yards of golf and about 25 miles of walking, with 5 frantic journeys between courses to be squeezed in too.

Yep, more than 100 holes on 6 different courses - with no buggies or caddies allowed and every hole to be played to a finish by every player.

Who are we? We are 6 blokes of a certain age who really ought to know better! Mike Brown (Wallasey GC and Shell); David Colvin (RLGC and Matthews & Goodman); Mike Haworth (Pleasington GC and Brookhouse); Paul 'Sombrero' Smith (Childwall GC and KME Yorkshire); and a couple of hopeful hackers who dreamt up the idea - David Lewis (Holywell GC and Weightmans) and Nick Wilson (Unattached and Weightmans).

Why are we doing it? To raise funds for the most worthy of causes - Claire House Children's Hospice on the Wirral, a bright vibrant place of hope for children with life threatening or life limiting conditions (and their families) from anywhere across Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales and the Isle of Man. Claire House needs to raise £200,000 a month just to keep going. Please take a moment to click on the link here and see how your donation could help.

http://www.claire-house.org.uk/?content=howToHelp

We hope very much that the £3500 target we've set ourselves is achievable. That sum would be enough to cover the cost of meeting the physiotherapy needs of all of the children for 2 months. Enough to make a real difference to children in need of our help. Can you help us to help Claire House to help them?

Just to put your mind at rest, everything we raise will go to Claire House - not a single penny of your donation will go towards our expenses. Any green fees, travel expenses, overnight costs, emergency supplies of replacement balls, drinks, bananas, beer money, sticking plasters, blister pads, Dextrosol, Aspirin, Savlon, Ralgex, Kendal Mint Cake, etc are being taken care of by us.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they won't sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.

So please dig deep and donate now. Even small donations may help us to make a real difference to the lives of children and their loved ones who really need all the help they can get.

Many thanks

Mike B, David C, Mike H, Paul, David L and Nick
