Tough Mudder/MK Marathon/Rat Race · 25 February 2013

We support the growing number of people in and around Milton Keynes affected by a life-limiting illness. We give our patients and their loved ones specialist, personalised care - free of charge. Only 13.8% of our costs are met by ongoing NHS funding, so we’re dependent on your support. Thank you.

Story

Dear all,

In December 2012 I hit the last year of my twenties and decided that I want to go out with a bang (hopefully not literally). I decided to set myself a number of stupid challenges to complete before I hit the big 3-0 and it just so happens that 3 of them fall within 7 days of each other with a bonus 10k to keep me on my toes.

Saturday 4th May: I will once again be tackling the 13 mile, muddy onslaught of Tough Mudder – www.toughmudder.co.uk

Monday 6th May: I will be attempting the Milton Keynes Marathon. I’ve only ever managed to run a half marathon before and that was in 2010 so this should be… Interesting. I’ve set myself a target finish time of 4 hours, but finishing in general will be amazing - www.mkmarathon.com

Wednesday 8th May: I'll be running the Silverstone Grand Prix 10k. Ok, the distance might not be all that compared to the others but it's sure to be pretty gruelling after a marathon - (can't seem to find a decent website for it, but it exists!)

Saturday 11th May: I will be attempting the Rat Race Dirty Weekend. Think Tough Mudder with 7 extra miles – www.ratracedirtyweekend.com

As this all seems a little bit ludicrous I’ll be doing this in aid of a charity close to my heart and close to the hearts of many friends and family, Willen Hospice. Willen Hospice is a registered charity that provides specialist care for people whose illness no longer responds to curative treatment. They do amazing work and I can’t think of another charity I’d rather put myself through this torture for.

I’m off to get training…
