My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We (Jonny Hay, James Ellis and Andy Vernon) are cycling from Canterbury to Monaco going through 8 countries in total in 8 days to raise money for Cancer Research.

Why we chose Cancer Research: Cancer can affect anyone even the fittest individuals, it is ever present with most people knowing someone who has suffered from cancer. By giving to this charity we hope our contribution will help those with cancer and the continuous research effort to find ways to cure, prevent and treat it.

Why 8 countries in 8 days: Firstly, Lands End to John O'Groats seemed too sensible for us and we wanted to do something different. We start in Canterbury (UK) cycle to Dover before 'hopping' over to Calais (France) on the ferry and continuing on cycling through Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and finishing in Monaco. We are covering just under 900 miles in the 8 days and cycle up one of the hardest climbs in the Tour de France L'Alpe d'Huez. We realise it is going to be tough and we could face problems with the bikes en route that we would have to fix with the limited tools we are able to carry with us. We have no support vehicle but we are willing to cycle through the night to complete it on time if we have an issue!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
