Pool Marathon · 17 September 2009

We want to ensure that every patient at Addenbrooke's and the Rosie hospitals experiences the highest quality of care available. We raise funds for cutting edge technology, additional specialist staff and extra comforts for patients, over and above what is possible with NHS funding alone.

Story

On Thursday September 17th 2009 through to Saturday September the 19th (Finals night), myself and Chris Marchant are looking to break the record for the longest pool match ever played. The current record stands at around 53hrs and 25mins, and we are looking to break that by 35 mins (Guinness World Records™ have confirmed this event). The event will be held within the Grafton Center in their Great Court (Bottom of the Escalators, outside BHS) for the duration of the attempt. We have two pool tables being supplied, one of which Chris and myself will be using, and the other for a "beat the pro" type competition, and for the general public. The event will be to raise money for the Paul Hunter Foundation, and the Addenbrookes Charitble Trust, specifically in the area of Testicular and Prostate Cancer.

I have had two radio interviews about this so far, BBC TV will be there to cover the start and finish, and I have an article in a local magazine going to print for the first week in September.

To get this event going we are in need of the following:

£191.25 to cover PI Insurance - The event cannot go ahead without this.
£400 to fast track our attempt through with the GBR, and make 100% sure we can break it at the time of the event.

ANY sponsorship, corporate or otherwise to assist in raising money. Any company who sponsors the event will have their name on a backdrop at the event, in the papers, on the radio and on all publicity fliers we produce.

Prizes. - We are looking to hold a raffle / auction style thing during the event to raise money, and could do with some prizes. Prizes we have so far are:

Meal for two - Hotel Du Vin
Cue and Case - Thurston
Free Fitness Assessment - Core Cambridge
