Baby Grace was born on the 1st September 2006 to two of my best friends. Two weeks later they discovered that she had four major heart defects including a closed ventricle and a hole in her heart. Just before her first birthday, Grace underwent open heart surgery. Unfortunately, the operation was unsuccessful and Grace was extremely poorly with a severe infection. Two further major heart surgeries were required to fix Grace's heart followed by weeks of intensive care and antibiotics. The staff at Bristol Children's Hospital were fantastic and real lifeline for Grace's parents.
Update - Grace is now coming up towards her second birthday and she is doing really well, happy and healthy at home where she belongs.
I decided that I wanted to do something to help other families like Grace's so hope to complete 8 Half Marathons during 2008 to help raise money for the Wallace & Gromit's Children's Foundation.
Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Foundation raises funds to help improve the quality of life of sick children in hospitals and hospices across the UK. Every year thousands of children are treated in hospitals and hospices in the UK and they need our help.
