Every year we support thousands of children and families right across the country. We provide rehabilitation to help children make the best recovery possible after a serious accident or illness, both at our national specialist centre in Tadworth and in the community.

Story

Help me raise £8000 faster than a highly paid consultant to show that volunteers are an amazing resource and of incredible value to charities and thirdsector organisations.

I have been fund raising for quite a while now for a variety of different charities and was lucky enough to get the chance to attend the Institute of Fundraising National Awards in July of this year. At the event I met a rather lovely chap called Jamie from Domain and we ended up having a friendly yet heated debate over the different value of marketing agencies and volunteers to charities.

To cut a long story short we decided to settle it by fund raising, first to £8,000.

The rules are simple, I can do whatever I want and he can do whatever he wants. He can get assistance from his friends and colleagues in the industry and I can get help from volunteers, friends or indeed anyone who'll help in this David and Goliath challenge.

Jamie's a good sport so we also bet a round of drinks on it. Nobody loses but the Children's Trust wins most of all; they're a great charity providing excellent care for brain injured children and both Jamie and I agreed that it is a cause worth supporting.

So here's my big ask: if you support the volunteer over the highly paid consultant, if you support the David over the Goliath and if you cheered for amateurs like Eddie the Eagle and Eric the Eel over the professionals then please chuck as much as you can afford on this page to help provide fantastic care for brain injured children.
