UPDATE: 25/07/2011..............................................!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM RUNNING THE GREAT SOUTH RUN ON THE 30th OCTOBER ALSO IN AID OF THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION.

My Story...........................(Route itinery at bottom of page)

I joined the forces to further myself and gain a better standard of living and life qualities, i have experienced things most people can only dream of.

Over the last few years i have been extremely busy but highly supported by a fantastic network of family and friends that i am proud and very appreciative of.

I have recently completed my 5 tour of Afghanistan and am now based in an instructing role in Portsmouth.

I am currently finalising plans to complete a 90km speed march to commemorate the British Legions 90 Anniversary. The march will be starting from Goathland, North Yorkshire, at 2300 on the 11 of November (11/11/2011), via Guisborough, Swainby, Yarm and will be finishing at the Middlesbrough Cenotaph where a wreath will be laid at 1100 on Remembrance Sunday. The march will be completed within 36 hours with full military kit weighing 55lbs plus food and water, which is the standard patrol weight for a soldier, with only a safety vehicle en-route in case of emergency.

I have chosen this route as I am a Middlesbrough born lad and attend the remembrance parade in Middlesbrough when I am in the country, which hasn’t been a lot over the last few years.

As you can appreciate the British Legion have been helping out our men and women for 90 years, thus I thought this would be a good time for me to do something to give back to them for all they do. I myself have completed 5 tours safely in Afghanistan, whereas so many haven’t; I therefore realise the contribution the British Legion makes to people in worse circumstances than myself.

Please, please help support me and the British Legion by donating here or coming out to see me enroute on the saturday 12th november 2011.

Love and Thanks,

Dave.
