Story
We are a group of enthusiastic graduates who have recently joined the Atkins Graduate Development Programme. We have been challenged as a team of raising not only money, but also the profile of RedR UK, a patron charity of Atkins.
RedR is an international disaster relief charity that gives people the skills to prepare for, respond to and recover from natural disasters
and conflict. The charity trains thousands of people each year, ensuring they can get clean water services running again, prevent a cholera outbreak, test the safety of a building after an earthquake and much more.
Citizens are always the first responders to a disaster. That’s why RedR builds the skills of national aid workers working for local
organisations, to ensure skills remain in-country for the long term and that communities won’t be beaten by disasters.
Our team is "cleverly" named "99 RedR Balloons" and is made up 6 graduates spread across the Warrington and Whitehaven Businesses:
- Andy Bruce
- Adam Foden
- Ahmed Ghazi
- Julie Gilmour
- Ryan Stewart
- Nick Taylor
As a team we aim to raise funds for RedR UK by a number of activities:
- Beating sunrise and making it to the top of Scafell Pike (England's highest mountain) - 6th November
- Hosting bake sales at the Warrington & Whitehaven offices - ongoing
- Running office competitions e.g. "How many sweets in the jar", "Who's that boss?
- Organising a Pub Quiz from the Warrington Office
This year's cohort of graduates aim to collectively raise £37,000 between all 31 teams taking part and help support RedR UK's life saving work.
