Although I do a bit of mountain biking, the furthest I have cycled in one go in the last 50 years has been 50 miles, and that involved quite a few beer stops and a long rest afterwards.

This ride involves 3 days of up to 70 miles, lots of traffic and the opportunity to miss a ferry.

So I have just bought a road bike off ebay and I will train very hard in the next weeks, in the firm belief that this massive effort will be justified by your immense support and generosity!
