As you may already know, as part of our Charity Week this year, I have decided to take on the challenge of climbing Scafell Pike! For those of you who don’t know what Scafell Pike is, it is the highest mountain in England (cor blimey). Now if you know me, you’ll know I’m not really much of a mountain climber, but when it comes to Charity Week, I’m not playing games. Especially when it comes to our fantastic cause this year, which is to raise money to build deep tube wells in Ghana! We will be working with Human Relief Foundation to provide clean, safe water for hundreds of people, not just now but for many years to come inshaAllah. 

70% of all diseases in Ghana are caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But there is enough water on the planet for everyone. Allah has blessed us in so many ways, with water being just one of those ways, and since we have the means, it is our responsibility to make sure as many people as possible can get access to the clean water we take for granted everyday.

Access to water is not just as simple as having something to drink. It allows better hygiene and sanitation, therefore reducing rates of water-borne diseases. This improves the means to grow food and agriculture, which is often the sole income for many families. So you can see how just having access to clean water can have such a huge impact, and this list only covers a few of the many benefits!

So what are you waiting for? This is a perfect opportunity to stack them good deeds and donate towards a very noble cause. No amount is too small, so give whatever you can! It's also worth adding that contributing towards building a water well is literally the perfect way to give continuous charity (sadaqah jaariyah). If you are still struggling to find a reason to donate, take a look at the following ayat:

Those who spend their wealth (in Allah's Cause) by night and day, in secret and in public, they shall have their reward with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. - [2: 274]
