We’re the only charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK and Channel Islands. That’s why we help children who’ve been abused to rebuild their lives, we protect children at risk, and we find the best ways of preventing child abuse from ever happening.

Story

In Feb/Mar 2010 we will be taking part in our Company's BGL Charity Trek in South Africa in aid of the NSPCC. We have been selected from over 120 applicants to form part of a team of 30 attempting the challenge.

The nine day adventure includes a challenging  6 day trek in the Cedarberg Wilderness, a mountainous region with peaks up to 1800 meters (6,000 ft) plus an ascent of Table Mountain in Cape Town. We will be walking distances of up to 22km a day covering a number of difficult terrains with extremes of temperatures, climate and altitude. We will also be enjoying basic facilities such as long drop toilets and primitive washing facilities yes that's right no straightners/ hair dryers for a week (Lee's devastated)!

In addition to the trek we will both be carrying out a number of fundraising activites over the coming months which we hope will help towards our target: Sponsored Silence/ 25 mile hike including a 750m mountain in the Yorkshire Dales/ 2000m Swim (with the help of litte sister Lilly Gibbs)/ The Great Eastern Run & more to follow.

Each of the Trekkers has committed to raise £3000 for the NSPCC! If we all meet our fundraising target we will raise a huge £42,000. This sum can make a real difference to the kids that the NSPCC help, with your support and donations we hope we will hit and fingers crossed exceed our target figure. We have set up a joint page as we work together in ACM and will be sharing all donations equally.

Remember every little helps so however big or small your contribution every penny will be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks for visiting our page. Please make a donation by following the instructions on the page and don't forget to choose the gift aid option to increase the value of your donation. We look forward to sharing our photos and stories with you over the course of our fundraising and when/ if we get back!
