Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

Updated on Sep 28th 2012 at 1:41 PM from the JustGiving API

I first noticed the advert for the Aspire Channel Swim Challenge in the changing rooms at my local pool in Stornoway. I kept catching a glimpse of it out of the corner of my I and I was secretly thinking \"I could do that.\" And swimming 40-60 lengths a few times a week, I really could manage it. That\'s when I got a little cocky. Not only did I decide to do the challenge, I added the extra feat of the return swim. So, instead of 22 miles over a period of 12 weeks, I\'m swimming 44 miles. 3 weeks in I\'ve achieved 14.6 miles so I\'m well on my way to reaching my goal and I\'m loving doing it! I hope this inspires you to sign up as well, there\'s still time! If you don\'t fancy doing it yourself but would like to sponsor me, that would be much appreciated! Thank you! :)
