<p>In September 2010, I lost a good friend to cancer. Her mother, who became a similarly good friend after that, succumbed to the same illness in January this year.</p> <p>Sarah was a practical girl, and she would have wanted anything done in her memory to be of practical help to others. She was also a keen walker, and a lover of our land's northern climes, so in April this year, I shall be walking the 84 miles of Hadrian's Wall to raise&nbsp;sponsorship&nbsp;for the work of Cancer Research UK.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>***A big thanks to everyone who supported the pub quiz at the Queen's Head in Reading before Christmas, which raised &pound;300.45.
