THE MAN & THE PLAN
The Man:
Well let's see..I'll keep it short &
simple as this is more about the event than me...
I was born and brought up in Pembroke, South West Wales. I had an average childhood,
plenty of bumps and bruises. I had my fair share of doctor and hospital appointments. I
went to Pembroke School where I had an average education. When I was 18, I decided to
leave home and headed for the bright lights in search of fame & fortune. It never
happened. Instead I became a motorcycle courier and spent 9 years riding the streets of
London before eventually moving into the warmth of the office. For quite a few years I
worked in operations for various executive, chauffeur & limousine companies. I went to
live in France for a while, reluctantly I came back to the UK. And now I would like to do
one really good deed.
That's about it .....

The Plan:
In the summer of 2010, I plan to ride around Europe visiting 14 countries. The
journey will be 12,500kms and I hope to raise £12.5k for the
“NOAH'S ARK APPEAL”by selling the route, each km costing £1. The gimmick of the event is for me to
“BLAG”my way around Europe. So the more money that is raised by the sale of kms, the more I
will have to
“BLAG”.. This is something that I am finding exciting, two big challenges
in one. To raise the money for the “
NOAH'S ARK APPEAL” and to complete the event,
by trying not to pay for anything. This includes fuel, ferries, food, accommodation etc.
Tough challenge, considering I will be alone with no back up or support...
I will also take a toy from
“The Children's Hospital for Wales” and in each country I
will call in at a major Children's hospital, swapping the toy for a new one, which in turn
will be swapped at the next, in a sort of relay.
I know and I appreciate that most of us are suffering from
“Charity” fatigue, this is why
I will do something in return for your donations. The
“NOAH'S ARK APPEAL” is a
great and very worthwhile charity. I'm sure most of us know someone with children who
have had or may need treatment at this hospital. Let's all help, even if it's just £1/km. If I
can hit my target it will be a small token..
My journey is only a short one. Let's make it a great one for the
“NOAHS ARK
APPEAL”
