Story
The wind was howling and the rain was pouring down on Blackpool Tower on the morning of Thursday 23rd November when the Aldi Blackpool Squires Gate Team set off on what would be their most difficult challenge of the year so far. A round trip of 530 miles was what lay ahead, as the team planned to cycle to Big Ben, London before returning to Blackpool Tower...
Fortunately, they would be completing this challenge from the comfort of our Aldi Blackpool Squires Gate Store. However, this is where the comfort ended, as the spin bike seats and distances travelled inflicted aches and pains throughout the team.
But these were only minor hurdles for the team, as they powered beyond the 530 mile mark on day three of the planned four day expedition. Thanks to huge contributions from various members of the Aldi Team, they managed to cycle a total distance of 653 miles over a four day period!
A special mention to Rob Alexander (Store Manager) who completed a total of 18 hours of cycling single-handedly over the four day period, in what can only be described as various dashing lycra outfits.
To all of our incredible staff that got involved on the bikes, our amazing customers that donated whilst they were shopping in store and any future donations that make there way to this page: "Thank You for all of your contributions!"
