Sony Ericsson Run to the Beat Half Marathon 2009 · 27 September 2009 ·

We fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.

Story

Some of us are now questioning exactly why, after only a few glasses of wine, when asked by Suzanne if we might be up for a half marathon we suddenly thought we were Paula Radcliff’s long lost and much fitter sibling !!! Had we known then, what we know now, we would have cancelled the milk, moved to Wales and not given her a forwarding address !!!

However that is all in the past and on 27th  September we will be standing shoulder to shoulder with Suzanne ( at least at the starting line!) ready to run the Run to the Beat Half Marathon as a mark of our love and respect for her and David , her husband.

For those who didn’t know David, he was an amazing husband to Suzanne, Father to Thomas, aged 12, and Matthew, aged 8, and a great friend to many. He was diagnosed with advanced bowel cancer just before Christmas 2007. He fought this terrible disease with unimaginable courage and determination which inspired all those around him. Despite this, David lost his battle on 4th November 2008. He was 42.

All of us will be running in tribute to David and every step (especially the painful ones) will be inspired by him.

Beating Bowel Cancer is a charity which aims to raise awareness about this awful disease and funds research into its treatment. More information about Beating Bowel Cancer is available via this link www.beatingbowelcancer.org

Many of us have committed never to put ourselves through this again so please don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to sponsor us as generously as you can for this important cause. Your sponsorship will be a great encouragement to us on the day. Thank you for your support.
