Story
I completed "A Long Walk Home", tired, sore and emotional. But most of all elated that I'd done it!
I'm eternally grateful to the many friends and family who turned up to show support or joined me for big and small sections of the walk. Without them I'm not sure I'd have made it! Thank you all (you know who you are)
I'm in the process of calculating the exact distance, and I'll get some pictures uploaded here.
Thank you all SO much for your help and support. _________________________________________________________
Marie passed away peacefully the night of February 3 2011, she had battled hard for over three and a half years with metastatic breast cancer, having tumours in the lungs and then the brain. It was her wish to die at home and her husband John promised that she would. But, in December 2010 John started to find it hard to cope. A suggestion from our Macmillan nurse led to meeting the Care at Home team from Katherine House.
"We both overcame having strange people in the house and within a few visits began to regard them as friends. My wife was a charming, talented, practical, intelligent and dignified lady and the Team reflected this in ways I cannot express. - John Palmer
My Challenge
"A Long Walk Home" is my personal challenge to walk over the three consecutive days of the May Bank Holiday (5th - 7th May 2012) from Manchester (my home) to Stafford (my parents home) via the Canal Waterways that connect the two locations (approx 70miles/115km).
Day 1 - 5th May: Manchester to Macclesfield.
Day 2 - 6th May: Macclesfield to Trentham.
Day 3 - 7th May Trentham to Stafford.
