Stirling Marathon, Glen Affric Challenge · 25 April 2017

We care for patients with a range of needs including symptom management, rehabilitation as well as end of life care. Our goal is to provide physical, psychological, social and spiritual care for our patients and their loved ones in a calm, peaceful and welcoming environment.

Story

This year I have stepped up the level of challenge and have signed up to do the Stirling Marathon in May (half marathon is most I've done so far).  The following month I will then attempt the Glen Affric Challenge - 44miles across a remote part of Scotland in 24hrs - walking from Drumnadrochit to Morvich in Kintail and encompassing a 6000ft ascent!!  Unfortunately the Glen Affric Challenge was cancelled!!

Instead I'm planning to keep up the running and aim to run 1017km in 2017.  At the end of October I'll be heading off on my 13th Hospice trek to Nepal to do the Annapurna Trail.

St. Andrew’s Hospice endeavours to provide a high standard of specialist palliative care to the people of Lanarkshire, encompassing human dignity and compassion. As Lanarkshire's only specialist palliative care hospice, we provide multidisciplinary support for our patients, their families and carers. Whilst we receive funding from NHS Lanarkshire and other sources, this only partially covers our running costs. Continued provision of these services is only made possible by the generosity and assistance of the people of Lanarkshire.
