Thank you to everyone who supported us and helped us to beat our target of £500. Special thanks to Britvic for adding £500 under their £4£ scheme. These amounts will really help fund research into this dreadful disease.
We managed 10 miles which was good going for the little ones on a very hot day. The attached photo shows most of the crew.
Parent Project UK is a charity working to find a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. See www.ppuk.org for more details. The cure is probably not far away as a result of recent advances in gene therapy, but getting to a usable treatment will take more resources, which cost money. Time is of the essence for existing sufferers and we cannot just wait as their muscles waste away.
Donating through this site is one way to sponsor us. Parent Project UK will receive your money directly and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. There is a small admin fee deducted from your payment by Justgiving.
Another way to help this cause is to try to influence government to invest more in the development and trials of potential treatments. There is a template on the www.ppuk.org website for a letter to your MP, which could help to progress this.
