Story
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page, and thanks to all those coming back for a second time . We climbed Ben Nevis on May 29th, and would love to reach our target sponsorship to end on a "high".
Remember that £5000 builds 5 houses in Darfur, 2 wells in Banda Aceh, and more...
The journey began with a 6 and ½ hour drive to the Khizra Mosque in Glasgow where there was a full programme of Nasheeds, Quranic recitation and lunch! From there we set off with sandwich ingredients for 120 people to our hostel at the foot of Ben Nevis. At 4 in the morning the next day we woke up for Fajr prayers and started making sandwiches for all the people. Upon completion of this task, 6 hours of sleep in the past 2 days and the lovely smell of tuna from the sandwiches (!) we set off for the climb. We collected at the foot of Ben Nevis and were given a briefing. Brothers and sisters from all over the country were there to raise money for such a noble cause. The spirit of true brotherhood and sisterhood was apparent and with the constant Dhikr(remembrance) of our Creator we set off...
The initial climb was steep but eventually there were many instances where we stopped and took a break. We took inspiration form Shaykh Omar who is 70, partially blind in one eye and wearing sandals (Mashallah!). The views were spectacular but as we went further up, the greenery was becoming less dense and rockier. Mist and fog were becoming thick. Snow, rain, sleet and the odd ray of sunshine greeted us now and then... but the inspiration we took from the others meant that no one was giving up... After a 4 hour climb and a summit temperature of -6 we made it to the top and a vision I will not forget. As we embraced each other we gave thanks to the Almighty....
Jazakallah Khair, many thanks, for all those who donated and keep your donations coming in....and remember the less fortunate in your Many thanks for your support. May God keep you in the shade of His Mercy, Ameen. Much appreciated, Sumit, Ihety and Adil PS Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. Ulfa Aid will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Ulfa Aid has probably THE lowest overheads of any charity, as all but one of us volunteer in the evenings/weekends and draw no money from the funds raised for costs. Their work includes overseas help, as well as hospital visits in the UK to those of any faith, or ethnicity, who simply do not have people to visit them.
