Sometimes we just forget how lucky we are !

We moan and groan about  things such as the weather, the economy and other everyday life when really all that matters is that we and our family are lucky enough to enjoy good health. This however should never be taken for granted as the statistics show that at some stage in our lives 1 in 3 of us will suffer from some type of cancer ! We normally assume that this will happen in later life but cancer has no age limit and can strike at any age which was the case for our good friends Clive and Viv whose son Dan was diagnosed with stomach cancer at age 27 and passed  away in July after a 4 year fight against this terrible illness. It is hard for us to understand fully the heartache and suffering Dan and all his family went through during the last four years of his young life but they said that the support they all received from Macmillan cancer support was just amazing. They were there to help Dan come to terms with the illness and the fact that it was possibly terminal and also to care for him day and night during his final days.

Macmillan Cancer support is a totally charitable organisation outside of the NHS and therefore depends on fundraising monies to operate. After hearing from Clive and Viv how they could not have coped without the amazing Macmillan nurses Mary and I felt it was something very special we wanted to support and after contacting them we signed up to one of their charity groups who will attempt to climb Africa's highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, this October.  And this is where we are asking for you to help us by sponsoring us in this challenge which we know will be very demading both Mentally and Physically but nothing compared to the challenges that cancer sufferers and their families face every single day. Mary and I are paying for the entire costs of the challenge so all the monies we receive from donations/sponsorship will go to Macmillan Cancer support.  Please, please pledge as much as you can - no amount is too big or too small.

None of us knows what is waiting for us or our family around the next corner in life so Macmillan could be of help to any of us in the future! !
