My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

My chosen charity is the Marie Curie Cancer Care.  Marie Curie nurses attended Davy at home during in the last days of his life.  They always sent two fully qualified nurses whenever we needed them any time of the day or night who dealt with his personal needs with tender care.

Davy died on 26th December 2009.  Prior to and during that Christmas period we had attrocious weather with heavy snow falls and high winds but that didn't deter these angels who would arrive, sometimes in the middle of the night, and with quiet efficiency tend to Davy, reassuring him all the time that they wouldn't hurt him.

Without their help Davy wouldn't have been able to stay at home so please dig deep and donate now.

My sponsorship challenge is to go on an organised trip with Oz-Bus http://www.oz-bus.com/london-new-york/london-new-york.aspx.  I will board a coach in London on 27th March 2011 and travel overland to New York via Europe,  Russia, Mongolia, Siberia (several days of which will be spent on the Trans Siberian Express), into China and then across to North America on a Cruise Liner, through Alaska, Canada and finally onto New York.  The trip will take 3 months and parts of it will, I imagine, be quite gruelling for a 70 year old!

Davy knew that I was always keen to undertake a journey like this and encouraged me, so when I heard of this trip I jumped at the chance.

So,  that's my story.  I will keep updating.
