I decided to do this walk to raise money for the people that have helped me through my recovery from breast cancer. Tamside Hospital is where I was first diagnosed, had my surgery and also had a little complimentary therapy to help with the side effects of my treatment.

The Complimentary Therapy department has to share facilities with others and does not have dedicated treatment rooms for patients. The hospital is also trying to get enough money to build a dedicated chemotherapy unit which will greatly help local patients to get their necessary treatment without having to travel far. Both these departments are severely underfunded which means they can't provide all the services or facilities that they want or need to. 

Last year I raised money for Cancer Research whose work enabled me to have the treatment which greatly increased not only my chances of survival but also the chance of it not returning. However great this cause is, Cancer Research have the benefit of lots of publicity and fundraising so they have quite a big pot of money to play with. Tameside Hospital, on the other hand, do not have access to this amount of money or publicity so it is for that reason that this year I want to raise money for those who really could benefit from it. 

I started this fundraising journey some weeks ago now and problems arose that almost put a stop to me being able to take part in this. Through my constant requests and sheer determination, I am pleased to say that I can now go ahead with it - please make all this effort worthwhile for me.

My target is £275, which, to charities like Cancer Research, isn't very much, but could make a huge difference to Tameside Hospital so please help me to help them, and give a little back in return for what they gave me.
