Great Manchester Run 10k 2019 · 19 May 2019 ·

Coming out, or being outed as LGBTQ+ can lead to young people being made homeless. This is the reality for 77% of the young people akt supports. We proudly offer safe homes and better futures for LGBTQ+ people aged 16-25.

Story

I have fundraised and volunteered at numerous events for the Albert Kennedy Trust over the last 3+ years, as the work they do is Vital in helping young LGBT+ people. They help re-home people in dangerous living situations and find homes for the ones who have found themselves on the street, just because they want to be their true selves. They provide counselling and numerous other services and the staff are truly passionate about making a difference to these young lives.

This year will be the 4th year in a row that I will be running in the Manchester 10k. If I manage to hit my fundraising total I will sign up for the Half Marathon for my 5th year.

"Since 1989 we have been helping young homeless and vulnerable LGBT+ people. Even though we celebrate turning 30 in 2019, our services are still very much in demand, we continue to welcome your support in fundraising for us. So whatever event you are taking part in, please also register it at www.akt.org.uk/register-your-event so we can fully engage with you. Many thanks" - Albert Kennedy Trust
