Build Africa believe in the power of education to help end poverty. We work to give children the education they need and fight the inequalities that stand in their way.

Story

On Sunday 13th October I will be running the Royal Parks half marathon to raise money for Build Africa. Build Africa work with remote and rural communities in Uganda, providing vital support to local schools and families. They ensure vulnerable children stay in education by building much needed infrastructure, and assist local communities by creating sustainable opportunities out of poverty.

In November 2018 I was given the opportunity to travel to Uganda with my company Euroclear, to see the impacts of Build Africa's work. I witnessed first hand how money raised has enabled Build Africa to build safe classrooms for children, create boreholes so that schools and communities have access to clean water, and the Village Savings and Loans groups; the very basics of micro-economics that give families sustainable opportunities out of poverty. Most importantly to me, I taught young girls how to create their own sanitary towels; providing them with a hygienic way to manage their period each month, and hopefully encouraging them to continue attending school during.

I would now like to raise money to further help Build Africa continue this work.
