This has been organised through my school. A team of 20 girls have been selected to take part in the Nijmegen (Holland) international four day marches. It is an official military march with over 40,000 people taking part. It is the largest marching event in the world. If completed you gain an official military award! (We are the only known school group to have ever taken part, to date!).</span><span style="font-size: 10.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; color: #993366; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;"> </span><span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; color: #993366; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;"><br /> <br /> On Sundays we started training, with a 10 mile walk building up to 25 miles. I must say, we all thought 10 miles was hard!</span><span style="font-size: 10.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; color: #993366; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;"> </span><span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; color: #993366; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;"><br /> This built up to our biggest training walk yet, on the 28<sup>th</sup>-29<sup>th</sup></span><span style="font-size: 10.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; color: #993366; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;"> </span><span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; color: #993366; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;">of May we took part in an army cadet march in Kent, which was 53 miles.... we all went slightly mad! We got an official cadet award, I am very proud of all of us, it was tough! Our event organiser, Mr Skinner, believes we can now do 100 miles, and so do we! ('We can because we think we can' is our motto). </span></div>

I made the decision that this physical and mental effort that we have put into our walks should not go un-noticed, so I made the decision to ask people whether they would sponsor me, to raise money for a charity called 'Olive Tree'. </span></div>

She is doing well with her treatment and is nearly half way through chemotherapy. The olive tree had helped her through everything, she has taken full advantages of the complementary treatment, and attends once a week to have a massage, or other treatments. Sometimes just a chat. It really inspires me that everyone there is a volunteer, and such lovely and genuine people, who really care. I have met a few of the volunteers which has given me a stronger determination to raise money for them.</span></div>
