Thank you everyone so much for your donations

Did you know that 1 in 40 people carry a defected gene for Spinal Muscular Atrophy and would not even know unless you are one of the hundred thousands who have had a baby with someone else who as a defected gene and then that child has a 25% chance of been affected for life with SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy). www.jtsma.org.uk This is the case with Abigail, she was born just like any normal abled bodied child.

After 18 months of testing Abigail was finally diagnosed with SMA type II at 28 months. This has left her unable to crawl, kneel, stand, walk or sit up from a lying position independenly. Abigail is a very intelligent little girl who attends main stream school, with the help of a one to one carer which she loves. Abigail also loves singing and would be dancing all the time if she were able.

We are currently trying to raise funds £22,000 for a specialised powered wheelchair for Abigail. www.dragonmobility.com this will give her much more independence and mobility. This chair will allow Abigail the freedom to sit on the floor with her younger brother and cousins and also be able to stand up right alongside her school friends at the same level.

As well as the social aspect’s because she will be able to stand this will help to slow down the curvature in her spine, so help to delay the inevitable major spinal surgery to fit 2 steel rods down her spine from neck to pelvis.

Abigail has applied to be a beneficiary of The Turbo Trust. By giving to The Turbo Trust through this page you can help Abigail and others like her and The Turbo Trust can receive gift aid on your donation if you are a uk tax payer. If you want your donation to benefit ONLY Abigail then you can still give through this page but you must NOT claim gift aid, and you should be aware that just-giving fees will reduce the value of your original donation, so if you definitely want to give directly to Abigail it may be cost- effective to do so in some other way.

Unless the donor expresses a clear preference that a donation should go to Abigail, donation given through this page , whether gift-aided or not, this might help other people aswell.

However, when deciding how much to grant Abigial in total , the trustees of the Turbo Trust will take account of how much of the trust's income has been attacted by Abigails supports.

We are asking that you could help by way of donation however large or small. We realise this seems a lot of money but this chair will be Abigail’s independence for life as it can be adapted to grow with her.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
