I will complete the full distance, a 140.6 mile triathlon "Challenge Roth", in Bavaria Germany, in July 2018. This will consist of: 3.8km swim; 180km cycle; 42km run (a marathon) to raise money for Great Ormond Street Children's Charity and in memory of Emma Hatchley. I will be completing this challenge with 9 others (all of whom, like me, are completing the whole 140.6miles!) being led by James Hatchley, Emma's father, and the wonderful leader of TeamHatch.

I watched Emma grow up from a distance as she is an extended family member. She sadly passed away, aged 15, after suffering from an extremely rare disease called Churg Strauss. Emma became very unwell in 2014 and James and his family lived in Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital for almost 4 months while doctors, surgeons and nurses fought to save Emma. After a long and brave battle Emma sadly passed away on 30th May 2014. I want to complete this challenge in memory of Emma and also as a thank you to the wonderful staff at GOSCH whose work tirelessly everyday to save children's lives.

As many of you will know, I have completed triathlons before - however never anything like this; this is a whole new ball game (minus the ball; plus a delightful wetsuit, bike and one hell of a pair of trainers). In truth, I've never even run a half marathon distance before, so am pretty nervous about this whole endeavor. I started training about 4 months ago, once receiving the all clear from my hip operation last October and will continue to train, averaging 15+ hours per week to prepare for the big day on 1st July 2018!
