Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So why am I doing this?
As we all know, cancer sucks, wherever you get it and whatever age. Pancreatic cancer is one of the bitches of the lot of em, with only 3% of patients surviving for 5 years or more after diagnosis.
Oftentimes this diagnosis is too late, and there's no treatment bar palliative care.
This has affected our family, with the loss last year of my Father-in-Law, Kevin.
He was an affable fool, he'd be okay with me saying that, in fact he'd probably say something a lot worse. Even to the end he was giving the Nurses' the V's when they weren't looking. He was one of those patients that we'd probably all enjoy nursing.
So to improve the life chances of those who have been diagnosed early enough and to continue the wonderful efforts of the research that this charity funds I decided to run for PCRF.
I'm also a walking risk factor for Pancreatic cancer, so I'd like to know that one day, they may have better odds of survival.
However, if you'd like to donate to elsewhere, please do so, every little helps every cancer charity going.
Oh and the running thing????? I haven't a clue, but as one of Alfie's Angels I decided that I'd take the plunge and have a go at something I would never normally do! Its going to take a while to do the half, but hey, what's a few hours of running to raise a bit of cash? It always helps that the BBC will be along for the ride and doing some filming too!!!!
Help me reach my target and I'll work my hardest to get that half done before lunchtime!
