Kith and Kids' overall aim is to empower families living with disability to overcome their social isolation and access the services they need.
Winners of the Queens Golden Jubilee Award for voluntary service by groups in the community, Kith and Kids supports its members who have a disability by providing effective projects and services tailored to individual needs.
Originally a self help group started by two families, Kith and Kids is now in its 40th year and excels in providing support, activities and a common meeting ground for families who have a person with learning, physical and/or sensory disabilities to share experiences and support each other.
With the tremendous input from hundreds of volunteers, experienced staff, members and their families - Kith and Kids continues to maintain its pioneering spirit in the field of learning disabilities and make positive differences to the lives of a growing number of children and young adults.
God's Golden Acre Khayelihle - our other charity is a non profit making charity involved in the care of children who have been orphaned or abandoned because of HIV/AIDS related illness and violence. The project is located in the South African province of Kwa Zulu-Natal, in the valley of a 1000 hills.
Rather than simply putting the children in orphanages, God's Golden Acre Khayelihle primarily strives to keep children in their community setting by assisting families using various initiatives to support themselves.
Our aim is to achieve the following:
- To provide children with a good education.
- To assist them to become well-adjusted adults.
- To develop the natural talents and aptitudes of each and every child.
- To provide a caring, loving, nurturing and compassionate community environment.
Thank you for your support from all at 8th Acton ( St Peter's) Guides
