Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - Although this trip with 99 Other supporters has now been cancelled due to Covid - I have taken the decision to continue with the fundraiser, and I will still be going ahead with the trek, just without the group. I have managed to find a local guide who will accompany me over the five day trek.
On 21 – 26 March 2022, I am going to trek through the Jordanian desert from the Dead City to Petra. My Trek was due to take place in March 2020, but due to the escalation of COVID-19, The Arsenal Foundation were forced to postpone the challenge.
I am hoping to raise at least £1500 through the use of three of my favourite things... and between all of us taking part, we hope to raise well over £50'000.
1.) Providing young people with positive transformative change
2.) Challenging myself
3.) Arsenal Football Club
The Arsenal Foundation ‘Challenge Jordan 2020’ brings together my favourite things and 99 other supporters from around the world to trek through the desert of Jordan with two Arsenal Legends (Which I will say are my mates from now on), David Seaman and Per Mertesacker (Dave & Merty to me), to raise money for The Arsenal Foundation.
£40 - The Arsenal Foundation trains local community members in Indonesia to help stop violence against children. Just £40 could train one person to keep children safe.
£150 - Enable ten children living in a slum in Indonesia to participate in the Coaching For Life programme, helping them to build their courage and inner strength.
£200 - Help train five local community members in Indonesia to help stop violence against children, keeping more children safe.
£450 - Help to provide a nutritious meal and snack for over 150 Syrian refugee children, giving them the energy to take part in football tournaments.
We will be trekking from the Dead Sea to the Lost City of Petra through mountain and desert terrain, using ancient trails and camping each night. I hate camping immensely. I am a fussy eater and I dislike bugs. All I know of Jordan is from Indiana Jones 3. I am not a massive fan of sand.
Arsenal has always understood the power football has to inspire young people and in partnership with Save the Children, The Arsenal Foundation has co-developed a ground-breaking ‘Coaching for Life’ programme which utilises football to improve the mental wellbeing of children affected by conflict and violence. The programme is underway in the Za’atari Refugee Camp in Jordan and in the slum communities of Jakarta, Indonesia. The trek will raise vital funds to support the project.
