Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. 4 months ago, I was feeling constantly run down, and just generally tired. I put it down to work, and we had started fostering back in August, and that is time consuming and tiring, and I just felt there was little time to actually rest, and get rid of some of the colds, coughs and daft illnesses i seemed to be picking up off everybody else. The last 5 weeks of my life have however, been a complete whirlwind, and so much has happened. I went into hospital to try and sort out my general fatigue, only to find out that i have stage 4 Lung and brain cancer.  It has taken a very unusual route, and gone from my lungs, to my Pituitary gland, wiping out my bodies immune system, and many other important operations that the Pituitary performs. This has allowed it to spread to my brain, in less than 4 months, which is very quick. I am currently undergoing Radiotherapy, and should be starting Chemotherapy within the month as well. Strangely enough since the doctors have replaced all my missing hormones, I actually feel the best i have felt in a long time, and i am up for the fight that is to come.    I am surrounded by a very strong family unit, and some fantastic friends who are all giving me a great deal of support and help, and that is all I can ask for. Part of preparing myself for what is to come also involves trying to get my fitness back to what it what before i was ill, and with that in mind, along with a group of friends I have agreed to ride the Manchester to Blackpool bike ride on the 10th of July, and for the 2nd year running a team of us will also be running the Adidas TR24, which is a 24 hour running relay where each member runs approx 18-24 miles over a 24 hour period, and some one has to be running on the course at all times. It was very tough last year, but great fun as a team event. This takes place on July 30/31st.   Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
