We believe in families, not orphanages. We’re helping Uganda reimagine care so that no child anywhere need ever experience an orphanage again. We help repurpose orphanages into services that people really need, keeping families together, reuniting families or finding new ‘forever families’.

Story

APRIL 10th UPDATE:

I managed to successfully drag myself across the line in 4hr53. Slowed down by it being the hotest day of the year, am glad its done and thank you all for you donations and support.

Thanks

Adam

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

SO....after 14 weeks of hard training, only 2 days left before the Brighton Marathon.

I have only had to go on the (rather attractive) sports physio's massage couch twice. I did try for a third appointment but she politely told me it wasn't required and to just 'run through it'!

Any way why am I doing it?

The gauntlet was obviously set not surprisingly in a drunken conversation, but now a few weeks on, one of the big motivators is the charity I am raising for.

The charity I am running for is the Childs i Foundation, see the video on this page. they specialise in giving abandoned, homeless and orphaned children a chance in life.

Why? Last year my mother (68!) spent some time living in a remote village in Tanzania for a similarly small charity (Wells for Tanzania). She came across a young boy, a similar age to Hamish, who had badly scolded his hand when he was very young. The hand had healed into a fist, which not only meant the boy had lost the use of it, but as he was growing his fingers were also growing and into his palm. We paid just £150 for him to have an operation to sort this out and he now has full use of his hand, changing his life dramatically.

The point being is a relatively small amount for us is a life changer for them.

The Childs i Foundation was started recently by Lucy and is run by her and a handful of volunteers, all admirably dedicating their lives to the cause. They are a small charity so each donation makes a huge difference, benifitting the children directly.

Many thanks for donating generously.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
