I'm taking part in the London to Brighton 54 mile bike race on June 19th with my friend Dave Rajan and a few others. We're raising money for a fantastic charity that means a lot to Dave and his family, so I'm supporting him by raising money for it also - here's why it means so much to Dave:
“Last year my niece Lua was diagnosed with Wilm's Tumor which is a form of kidney cancer. In many cases it is found on just one kidney but with Lua she had it on both her kidneys which was very serious. She had chemotherapy at Kingston Hospital and Great Ormond Street and in December last year she had an operation at GOSH. They removed some of one of her kidneys and had to leave the rest. The long and short of it was they have been able to leave her kidneys functioning and she no longer has to have chemo. We found out after the operation that the tumors she has left in her are no longer malignant which is fantastic news. They are continuing to monitor her very closely but things are looking very positive for Lua. There is one particular organisation that my brother Jim and his fiance Maria owe a great deal to - Momentum. They offer fantastic support and help children and the families of children undergoing treatment for cancer in Surrey and South West London.
So in December my brother and I decided that we were going to do the London to Brighton Bike ride to raise money for Momentum. Momentum are based in Kingston Hospital and support children with cancer and other life threatening conditions.
Please do give what you can, and thanks!!
