The International Rescue Corps is an independent UN registered disaster rescue service. All the IRC's services are provided free of charge, our aim is purely to save life.

Story

Hey everyone,

Thanks for just visiting this page! It is now Monday 21st March 2011, the day after our event. Yesterday, Leigh Spires and Adam Waide caught a train from Southend Central to London Fenchurch Street and then set off to run home. We covered a total distance of 51 miles, an extra 14 miles more than planned due to complications. However, we remained determined to complete our challenge and finished at 21.40 last night, taking a total time of ten hours and twenty minutes running. To say this was the most mentally and physically demanding thing we have done would probably be an understatement. It is impossible to describe the feeling. If anyone has ever completed a marathon or half-marathon, I'm sure they will appreciate how gruelling a challenge it is. Yesterday we completed near to a double marathon consecutively. The furthest we had ever run before this was 25 miles meaning in one day we completed both our first and second marathon almost. We did this to help raise money for people suffering in Japan, and any money you could donate would be hugely appreciated.

Thank you so much,

Adam and Leigh

x
