On the 5th December the two of us are planning on swimming 5k for Ecpat. This is around 100 lengths each at Scotstoun Leisure Centre. We decided to raise money this way due to the belief we had a mutual appreciation of swimming, however in the preliminary training sessions we have realised that what we actually like is playing around in a swimming pool, (handstands and leapfrogs being the favourites) rather than serious length counting, so this will be a bigger challenge to us than we had expected....
It took us some time to decide upon a charity to support and we have chosen Ecpat due to our belief in supporting the fight against the exploitation of children and young people as well as the importance of raising awareness of these issues. Ecpat is a fairly small organisation which does not recieve a great amount of donations due to its relatively low profile. We hope that by supporting them in this way we can not only provide them with some monetary support but also help to raise their profile and awareness of these important issues overall.
