Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Saturday 30th April I will be undertaking a sponsored walk from Leek to Buxton, a distance of around 16 miles, in aid of the Buxton Mountain Rescue Team.

The route takes me out of Leek, around Tittesworth Reservoir, over The Roaches, down through Back Forest (and Lud's Chruch), then via Three Shires Head and across Axe Edge down into Buxton. The walk takes me through some stunning landscapes which attract many visitors to this area of the Peak District and beyond. Whilst it is a beautiful part of the world, visitors can be caught out by the weather and other factors and get into difficulties. That is why the folks from BMRT play such a vital role in this area and why I chose to support them through this walk.

BMRT's principal aim is simple; to work in coordination with the police and other agencies to locate and recover lost or injured people from remote places in the Peak District and surrounding areas.

They also cooperate with the police in searching for missing and vulnerable people in areas other than hills and dales.

The team maintains an operational membership of around forty-five people in order to provide this service.

They are a registered charity and totally dependent on donations from the public. It costs around £30,000 per annum to maintain the service which must be raised through their own and their supportes efforts.

I do hope that you can make a donation, however small.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
