Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 11th March 2011 I will be taking part in the greatest cycle event in the world - the Cape Argus Cycle Tour - a 109km (67miles) circuit around Table Mountain in Cape Town.

I'm asking for sponsorship to support Emeyezweni school in Lwandli, a very poor township to the east of Cape Town. The school is run by a small charity and does not receive any govenment support. The school has two nursery and three primary classes and is expanding to take 140 students in 2012.

The building its equipment are very basic and the sponsorship I hope to raise could pay for PE equipment (£100), a catering cooker (£500), a fridge freezer (£600), educational computers (£1,000). It would be great to tick off all the items on the list!

I've been training on hilly routes Northumberland and done a couple of 50+ mile trips so far. Switching from the cold of North East England to the heat of Cape Town will be challenging. Please help me make it all worthwhile!

I'm collecting sponsorship money through a small UK based charity called Ukuthasa which is registered with Just Giving - enter that name and follow the giving instructions. They will send the money donated directly to Emyezweni and can also recover gift aid if you are a UK taxpayer. Check them out on www.ukuthasa.org If you want to know more, contact me on asmith6000@aol.com

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
