This is my Mom and Dad. As some of you may already know, in August 2009 my Mom was diagnosed with bowel cancer, the second biggest cancer killer in the UK. Fortunately my Mom has been one of the lucky ones and although some of the effects are still with her, she is ultimately cancer free! During this time, as anyone who has been through it knows, my Mom and Dad needed support to get them through it.
The Cancer Support Centre in Sutton Coldfield has been there for my family throughout this process, giving emotional support, advice and a mix of therapies, including counselling and relaxation. It provides a mental respite for people who have been diagnosed, to help them to try and forget about the fact that they have cancer and to, even if just for a few hours, smile again.
This centre is not part of another charity and relies completely on donations as well as a team of volunteers. On June 18my Mom, Sue Wilson, will climb mount Snowdon in a bid to raise money, so the centre can continue to help other suffers and their families throughout what becomes the hardest time of their lives.
Once you donate, your money goes directly to The Cancer Support Centre, Sutton Coldfield and make sure if you are a UK taxpayer please claim Gift Aid.
I know times are tough, but that's why now, more than ever, we need you're help. Please give anything you feel you can spare, no matter how small.
On behalf of my Mom and everyone connected with the Support Centre, thank you.
