Time to say thank you

Thanking People · 22 March 2016
After much thought, I've decided it's time to give something back to CALM to say thank you. Simple as that really. Having suffered from depression, CALM have always been there for me through the darkest times and I don't say it lightly when I say they're a huge contributing factor to me still being here to type this today.
I don't really know how to do much fundraising, I've never felt the urge to sit in a bath of beans or anything like that, but I can ride a bike - and raised a good amount of money last year. So I figured I'd give that another go. I've listed some of my targets below. They aren't huge rides and don't come close to the efforts of some cyclists I know, but I'm 47, drink, smoked and my back is pinned together with titanium so I reckon it's a credible mix of rides!
The first ride on April 22nd is a gentle 25 miles around the Vale of Belvoir with a bunch of other cyclists which will give me a good benchmark for how much work I have to do. JOB DONE
The next in the second week of May will be just me against me - 6 laps of the Shell Brook Trail at Hicks Lodge. At 5.5 miles a lap on a mountain bike track it'll be a bit more of a fun ride. JOB DONE
Then there'll be the Great Notts Ride in June - a steady 50 mile ride. JOB DONE
July 16/17 is the Dunwich Dynamo - 120 miles from Hackney to Dunwich on the Suffolk coast. Setting off at 9pm and riding through the night.
JOB WELL & TRULY DONE!!!!!
August will see the "Bike to Burslem" where I'm riding to the annual gathering of my fantastic rock family at "Bedlam in Burslem". Around 130 miles round trip. I've decided that rather than the "easy" route via the A50, I'll go over the tops - give sponsors their money's worth!
September will bring another ride around Nottinghamshire - 75 miles this time in the annual University of Nottingham Life Cycle Ride
I reckon that will do for starters, but keep an eye on this space to see if I add anything else!

Thank you to everyone that's helped me get to where I am now
